b.read.crumbs: January
Wrapping it Up
Last year Julie and I glommed onto ‘months’ in our desperate attempt to find a year’s worth of b.read.crumbs themes. “Just whatever the month suggests,” we agreed. I had a vague idea about monthly prompts, starting new (‘cause, y’know, January….) I came into the world 70 years ago this month, so I was mostly thinking about cake and ice cream. And so many other possibilities for post topics that I didn’t get specific about, but no worries because ideas are everywhere.
Things changed.
I have a folder full of works in progress, drafts waiting for revision, notions to develop. But there is neither the time nor the energy for that. Instead I’m sleeping, napping, dozing, meditating in between. My kids visit, as does the hospice nurse who used to babysit those kids. I don’t have an exit date, but this will be my final post here.
My final CNF publication is set to appear in Porchlight : a Journal of Southern Literature this month. I can’t think of a nicer way to wrap up my writing years.
Thanks to every one of you who read my work, encouraged me, shared with your friends, and kept me going in spite of all those rejections. Please check the Reads page if you’d like to read or re-read the digital publications.
NOW GO WRITE YOUR FINAL DRAFTS AND SEND THEM OUT INTO THE WORLD!
ONE GOOD THING
Never was there a time when I did not exist, nor you, nor all these kings; nor in the future shall any of us cease to be.

Sending peace and love to you and yours, Deb.
I adore you, Deb. Will continue to count the months. That way, even if you are not posting, I will be able to keep you at my side.
